lovely day

Sunday was a busy day. I ran some errands in the morning which ran much later than I expected they would, so I missed out on heading up to spooky_lu and gwiii's house. But I stayed home and did a little bit of unpacking, and got to talk to several friends on the phone that I haven't talked to in a while.

Then slitterst and his lovely wife came over for dinner (and to see the new place). I made lasagna, bruschetta, and spinach/craisin salad. I'm not personally a huge fan of lasagna, but I thought it was okay. The bruschetta, however, was divine. Maybe I was just in the mood for it. We had a delicious watermelon for dessert. :) Mrs. Slitterst rightly called the watermelon a "very summery" dessert. Anyway, a good time was had by all (I hope) and it was nice to finally see the two of them. They left around 10:30 and Seth pretty much went right to bed. I finished reading some emails, read a few pages more of The Secret Life of Bees, and then tried to go to bed. So I crawled into bed, but the stupid cat (Pipsqueak) was taking up 80% of the bed. How can a 13 pound fur-ball take up an entire bed?? It took a LONG time for me to get her off (she kept coming back if I threw her off. Like an evil boomerang. And even then it took me forever to fall asleep. Bleh.

Fast forward to this morning when I woke up annoyed at my alarm because in my dream it hadn't been an alarm, it had been a telemarketer calling. And calling. And calling. And... And now it's after 2pm and I'm pretty sure I still haven't woken up. Freakin' frackin'. HOw on earth am I going to get through a fast day tomorrow?? Argh. Ah well. At least I have a doctor's appointment in the morning, so I can sleep in a teeney, weeney bit.

Oh, I nearly forgot the funniest part of yesterday. Several times when I went downstairs to the second kitchen area, I found Pipsqueak sitting (or, later, curled up in) in the kitchen sink. She is so weird. She never did let me get a picture though.
