workin' - Karen's Musings
Random Rambling
Well, theoretically I'm working. I guess you could call this my lunch break. Except that I'm not eating lunch right now. But that's beside the point. I'm really frustrated at a coworker right now and I'm contemplating ways to calm myself down a bit.
*beathing in*
*breathing out*

So anyway, it seems I stirred up some tempers here just by passing out a document that has standard acronyms on it. Well, I mean, SOME people are PERFECT and NEVER get ANY of these WRONG, so it might be OFFENSIVE to be handed this list.

That's highly annoying.

Once upon a time at a company long ago, I got flack from my manager for sending out email to the doc group with some "C 101" stuff. (Not all writers worked on API documentation the way I did.) I was told that I had insulted people's intelligence and was completely wrong to send out such email. I had sent the mail in direct response to a request from a team member who didn't know this stuff and wanted my help, and I figured if one person was asking then some others (more junior) would benefit too. Singling them out would have been potentially embarrassing, though, so I sent it as a helpful hint to the group. (We're talking 8 or 9 people here, not real spammage, and we had a custom of helpful grammar hints already.) But because my manager chose to blast me in front of the entire group, I wasn't going to respond by saying that so-and-so asked for this info. *I* understood the principle of not embarrassing people unnecessarily, even if my manager didn't. Ah well; I still think I am the better person, and I have a much better job now. :-)

That company was the only place I ever walked out of without having another job already lined up, by the way.

I wonder if the comment tool goes back this far in your history.
