Moo!
I have pumped 7432.5 ounces of milk since September 19th, 2007. That is 58 gallons of milk. That is not counting any of milk they've gotten from direct breast feeding. My next project is to add up the number of hours I've spent breast feeding. When this is all over, I'm totaling up all the gallons I pumped, the hours spent breast feeding, and the number of diapers changed (I have a log of all of this stuff) and I'm sending them a bill before they go off to college.

But seriously folks, I do it with love. Really. Still, 58 gallons??? Can you believe it? I can't!

Oh, BTW.

Happy Birthday and Junk!!!

And the 58 gallons of milk is roughly 500lbs. I have no idea why I had to figure that out. Oh well.

Oh, and guess who got a hair cut?

Re: Oh, BTW.

Hrm. Well, Seth got a hair cut recently. And um, Julian got a hair cut a couple weeks ago. It's been months since I got a hair cut, so you're not talking about me.

Wait... you're not talking about YOU, are you?? YOU got a hair cut??? YOU??? NO WAY. I don't believe you. I must see pictures. Or see you in person. When are you going to come down and visit us? God knows WE'RE never leaving the house again.

Thanks for the birthday wishes. 500 pounds, huh? It's a shame I put that right back on by drinking water...

But have you been making yogurt and cheese?

I'm glad that breastfeeding is working out for you. 58 Gallons?

I wonder if you CAN make cheese out of breast milk... I suppose there's no reason why you couldn't, but... it's making me kind of queasy thinking about it.

I just decided to start tracking how many ounces I pump a day ... well two days ago. Before that I was just making sure to get the 6 sessions in. But it's no where near the amount that you have done! I just imagine that you hooked up pretty much nonstop. What is that? Like two gallons a week?
estherchaya From: estherchaya Date: January 29th, 2008 01:57 pm (UTC) (Link)
I call the pump my fourth baby, because I spend just as much time with her as I do with my other three babies, since it's the only way I can feed Abby. Poor, sweet Abby. I get between 6 and 10 pumpings a day, depending on the day.

Wow. That's a lot of milk!

And, happy birthday! May it be a year of much nachas for you :-)

I can't even PICTURE 58 gallon containers of milk on a grocery store shelf. Seriously!

Thanks for the birthday wishes. And I was so sorry to hear about your job woes. I hadn't been reading LJ, but Seth caught me up on your news!

That is out of control!

The scary part about it is that I only have about 90 ounces in the freezer, which means they've really eaten MOST of that 58 gallons!!!

You know, somewhere around here I have extra milk bags. If I find them I'll send them to you.
estherchaya From: estherchaya Date: January 29th, 2008 02:45 pm (UTC) (Link)
honestly, I despise the bags. They make a big giant mess. I know some people love them and I am sure that I must just be doing something wrong, but I hate them, so I use collection bottles instead. So we bought an extra freezer for all the milk! (Just kidding...we bought an extra freezer because we needed it, it just happened to coincide with a time that I needed to store milk...but I don't actually store much milk for long... I have 90 ounces or so in the freezer; mostly, they drink what I pump immediately.)

You are the Dairy Queen. No mistaking that.

OMG.

That's impressive. Kind of mind boggling really...

Oh, and HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!

One of these days, when you want to embarass the kidlets you can take 58 and counting gallons and show it to them...Naw. You're not that mean...

Oh, one of these days, I'm sending them a bill.

hey, that's a good point, now I've got a new thing to calculate. I was planning to count how many diapers we've changed (that's on our chart too), but now I can actually calculate how much the diapers WEIGHED!

Isn't it more for organic, free-range milk, with no added hormones?

I have no idea what the proper response to your statement is...

So, Happy Birthday!

*boggle*

At the risk of sounding like Captain Obvious, that's a lot of milk. (And it's so cool that you're able to do that! Having the pump as your 4th baby can't be fun, though.)
estherchaya From: estherchaya Date: January 30th, 2008 02:04 pm (UTC) (Link)
That IS a lot of milk! Having never experienced nursing WITHOUT the pump attachment, I have no idea what life without the pump is like, so I don't mind it so much.

Holy heck. The BFing ribbons are like a joke for you.
estherchaya From: estherchaya Date: January 30th, 2008 02:05 pm (UTC) (Link)
pretty much, yeah. I think BF'ing ribbons serve to put guilt on those who don't make it to the next goal. I don't expect to make it to a year, but I'm proud of having made it as far as I've made it and I'll go as far as I can.
