Round Ligament Pain - Karen's Musings
Random Rambling
Round Ligament Pain
So among the myriad of aches and pains one experiences in pregnancy is "round ligament pain." I know, what on earth is that, right? I'll let you google it, but essentially, everything's stretching out and all sorts of stress gets put on the ligaments and voila! Excrutiating pain. I scoffed at the idea when I read about this mysterious pain in books. How, I thought to myself, will I possibly know it when I feel it, given that I have nine billion other aches and pains and ouchies and icks and yucks?

Yeah. I really WAS that naive.

HOLY OUCHIE BATMAN! There is no mistaking what this is and I do not like it one bit!

P.S. I still need a pregnancy icon. All the ones I like seem a bit... not quite right.
Edit: I now have an official pregnancy icon!

lol yeah RLP is no fun... I only had one in there and it was excrutiating I cant imagine how much it must hurt when three little ones are trying to make room for themselves!
ps you never asked to see belly pics! but if you want, i can show you one now! but I do understand you not wanting to "show off" your belly. some ppl just dont want to. thats cool!

I don't know that the pain is so much greater with three, but I think it probably is starting earlier. But I could be wrong about that. What do I know? I've never done the singleton thing. I'm actually intensely curious about what a singleton pregnancy is like.

As for the belly pics, I may post one toward the end, but I'm really not planning on doing so at this point. I don't need you to show me one at this point... that would be hypocritical of me!

I liked having the pics just so I could look back and remember how I looked. You forget (or at least I did) pretty quickly. And it was kind of cool to take one each month for the last few months so I could see how much I grew.

Yeah, I remember thinking that about labor contractions. With all the weird little twinges and whatnot, I thought, am I really going to know when the real thing hits? Oh yeah. I knew. No mistaking it.

Sorry about the holy ouchie!

(Have I mentioned lately that I am very excited for you?)

We're pretty excited too. And very, very tired. :)

Oh yeah, I forgot about that one. And the boob pain, too.

The worst sensation pre-labor, though, was towards then end when the connective tissue is swelling and loosening, and you feel like you're going to come apart at the seams every time you take a step! And the beached whale feeling of late pregnancy - that was unpleasant as well.

With all the discomforts, aches, pains, and gross parts of pregnancy (much less the actual labor), it's amazing that the human race has survived so long. I think if men gave birth, we would have died out long ago.

Well, the good news is that towards the end I probably won't be allowed to take a step. ;) And I'm already starting to feel like a beached whale! Holy moly! And yeah, the boob pain? Unbearable. Thank heavens my husband is a supergenius who suggested a heating pad, which I scoffed at but tried in desperation. It worked.

Yes, RLP was definitely my chief physical complaint there for a while. I know this may be difficult for you to do, but I did about 10 - 15 pelvic thrusts in the shower each morning and it worked! I swear by them.

Hope it improves!

I'm pretty sure pelvic thrusts are verbotten for me. RLP is DEFINITELY not my chief physical complaint. The migraines, contractions, nausea, heartburn, sciatica... those are all just as bothersome and far more frequent at this point, though I imagine the RLPs will only get worse. In fact, I'm trying NOT to remember that right now I feel better than I'm going to feel for the next 16 weeks. It's all downhill from here.

Definitely unnatural. And evil.
