unexpected - Karen's Musings
Random Rambling
I have unexpectedly lost several pounds in the last week or two. One wouldn't think that 3 pounds would make much difference in the way my clothes fit, but it must have put me just over the edge, because the skirt I'm wearing today almost fell off in the parking lot this morning. I've pinned it so it shouldn't happen again, but I love this skirt! I don't want to give it up just yet! It's not an elastic waist, so it's not like it got stretched out. It's just... weird!

Not really. The way the skirt is cut, I'd have to do major surgery to make it sit right. I'm not that good a seamstress, and the skirt isn't worth enough to make me want to bring it to a tailor to do.

I'm willing to come visit sometime, bring a sewing machine and sneak some elastic in the side/back of the waist. It might not be a tailor's quality of work, but it should keep the skirt wearable.

In some smooth-fitting skirts, the one or two gather points might look a little strange, but it could be covered by a decorative belt or a shirt/vest that hangs down over the skirt a bit.

Or I might be able to add beltloops.

That is a very generous offer. I think for the moment, I'd better consider the possibility that this weight isn't gone for good. I'm not that much of an optimist. ;)

Plus, I want you to visit (or me to visit you) not to put you to work (like the time you helped me move in!), but to SEE you and visit with you and *gasp* talk and... you know. Hang out. Like real people.

That would be wonderful!

I stopped by your house to drop off desserts with Beth last night and got to meet Seth and Julian (we got a little lost on the way to Kosher Mart and ended up near there). It's a shame that you weren't there! I hope you got all your shopping and cooking done.

Shabbat Shalom!

I don't think I missed you by much. So sad I wasn't there! (And very sorry you had to see my house in such dissary!)

Cooking's done except the two things that should be done more last-minute. I'm in shock about that, myself, to be honest.

I, too, have noted with interest this phenomenon. It's amazing what the right couple of pounds can do!
