	CISSP
	I've avoided getting my CISSP for a long time, because for me, it's essentially useless. It wouldn't raise my salary at all (I've got the experience of a CISSP, so I'm being paid at the same level) and I frankly think it's a relatively useless certification. HOWEVER! Just having my CISSP would make me VERY EMPLOYABLE in the UK! :)

I tend to agree with your assessment. I may have to get one as well: it looks like under DoD 8570, some form of certification is requried to be support to certification teams.

It's very annoying, because I can't figure out why everyone thinks that an exam that's a mile wide and an inch deep proves anything.

*sigh* You really are serious about this. That's good. That's bad.

You'd still LJ, though, right? So we could just always pretend that you simply couldn't make it to [whatever] in person, ignoring the notion of a thousand miles of water away...

It would also make you very employable HERE :-)

I have to get mine as well, even though I just crossed my "20 years in the industry" boundary.

I can't imagine it would be THAT different were I on the OTHER side of the pond.

interesting and sad at the same time.

for, realistically, in the US, the CISSP is ONLY useful for raising your salary, really. Other than that, it IS useless, IMHO.

It's useless in terms of proving you know how to do anything, that's for sure. At this point, I'm happy to say, it really wouldn't affect my salary enough to make it worth it save some other motiviation (e.g. trying to obtain employment elsewhere)
