14 months ago I lost my phone. I went to Verizon to replace it. They were going to charge me an assinine amount of money to replace it because I couldn't get the promotional price until February. So what am I supposed to do in the meantime? I asked. They shrugged. "Pay full price or wait."

Four phone calls to customer service eventually waived that requirement and they allowed me to get a new phone a little early, providing I extended my contract another two years. Two weeks later I pretty severely damaged my phone, but it was still technically functional. I couldn't get it replaced because I had another 23.5 months left before I could upgrade my phone under my contract(see above).

Now my needs have changed but I still have another 10 months to go. Lather, rinse, repeat.

The bitch of it is that a week later I found my old phone, but it wasn't working anymore (not the service. I mean I couldn't get it to function properly).

Re: phones'r'us

oops. sorry, I only just saw this comment. For the moment I'm still being all wishy washy about what I want. At the rate it's taking me to make a decision, my contract with Verizon will probably have expired. Heh. I'm still leaning toward a Treo, but I don't know anyone local who has one so I could play around with it to figure out if I can live with the interface. We'll see. Thanks for the offer. I'll let you know if I ever come to any conclusions!
