Good things - Karen's Musings

Good things
I think I'm mostly out of my funkitude. Mostly because I'm realizing that there are LOTS of good things going on in the near future. Plus lots of cool people.
  • First, I have to take back every mean thing I've ever thought about my mom. She came over last night so Seth and I could go out to dinner, just the two of us. She offered. I didn't ask. But she knew I'd been frustrated and that Julian had been throwing a temper tantrum for a while and that probably we could use a break. So she came over and then when Seth got home, we went to Sienna's for dinner and then to Barnes & Noble. A real date! I got a couple new books for Julian, Seth got the Fantastic Four novelization (I think), I got Elizabeth & Mary for me, and a present for psujedi, but she has to let me read it too!
  • More kudos to Mom... She's coming over tonight while Seth is at gaming so that I can go out with psujedi. Yes, my mom had already said she'd come over tonight when she called last night and offered to come over. And I told her that she didn't need to come over last night because she was alredy being a huge help by coming tonight and I didn't want to monopolize all her time and so on. And she still said it was okay and came over. Go Mom! Since Jo is a freak and today is May 25th, after all, we'll be seeing ROTS again. Go ahead. Ask why May 25th is important? Heh. I shouldn't talk about her freakitude. Just wait until HP comes out. I'll be the freakazoid then. But that's later on the list.
  • Looks like Seth is not working on Sunday. That would rock. If he's not working, we might go strawberry picking at Baugher's. But maybe not. Also possible that we'll get to see slitterst, but that's up in the air.
  • Possible plans to go out and visit have_inner_lady and predigested on Monday. Hey, Lady, Seth said it was okay with him. Is it still okay with you? Probably we should resort to email or telephones to figure out the details.
  • Indigo Girls Concert with psujedi coming up in June. Whoo hoo.
  • Shavuous is coming in June. Whoo hoo. Dairy Goodness!
  • Seeing gwiii and spooky_lu on June 19th. We were hoping to go strawberry picking then, but strawberry season will be over then. :(
  • leahmiriam and I are thinking of going to South Florida for July 4th weekend. I think we might actually do it. Wouldn't that be fun?? :-D
  • Joshua Bell Concert with sethcohen and my best buddy, Diana, July 7th.
  • Seth going to Shore Leave on the 8-10. This is a little sad, and also means I'll be single-parenting it that weekend, but it also means I'll get to rest and relax a bit. I'll probably have another shabbos dinner alone, like last time. It sounds sad, doesn't it? But it's sorta nice! (just not too often) I'll wrangle a lunch invitation for Saturday, which will give me all the social stuff I need for the weekend. :)
  • Charlie & the Chocolate Factory coming out July 15th.
  • Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince is coming out July 16th! Squee! (And of course this is much further down the road, but Goblet of Fire comes out in theatres in November)

So yeah. Lots of good things. And lots of opportunities for me to be me and have time to myself.

Current Mood: cheerful cheerful

Oh, I expect you to ask. I just don't expect you to receive an answer.

Anyway, it's a birthday present, but you shall receive it tonight instead of in August, because otherwise you'll run out and buy it yourself between now and then and that would be tragic.

You might have. In fact, there's a high probability that you have. In which case, I'll keep it. :-D

well, the thing I *really* wanted to get for you (but didn't want to spend the money on without checking with Cary first) I don't think you have. So if you have this, it's no big deal. 'Cause I kinda wanted it myself, but figured you'd give it a better home. :)

I'm so glad you're getting out of the funk!

I might even write my gerus saga eventually.

You remind me that I haven't read Law School, Part III.

hrm. Did I write it? I thought I did...

I just read it. That's the most unfair thing I've ever heard! But I guess the gam zu l'tova is that you got to see how wonderful and supportive your now-husband could be.

yep. I learned very quickly who my friends and supporters were. Seth, of course, was chief among them.

Baruch Hashem! So you did the smart thing and married him!

As long as we're boasting about husbands, I think I'll update my journal with a story about mine.

Thank you for the linkage to the HP trailer... I've been waiting for one for months. You totally made my morning!

I love Strawberry picking, I just don't know what to do with all of those strawberries. Do they freeze?
estherchaya From: estherchaya Date: May 25th, 2005 06:06 pm (UTC) (Link)
strawberry pie, strawberry shortcake, strawberries and fresh cream, strawberries in my salads, strawberry sauce (for pancakes and waffles!), strawberry milkshakes (not that I make those so often), strawberry ice cream (ditto on this one). I would imagine you could freeze them, though of course their texture will change.

LOTS of great strawberry ideas!!

you will have to let me know how "Elizabeth and Mary" was. I was looking at it at B&N a while ago but I didnt want to buy it without hearing from someone how it was , cuz i was scared it would be too much history, not enough novel. I love history, but i dont like to read about it in dry text books. if this book is really a historical novel, it would be right up my ally.
hehe nobody really seems to understand why i love history so much, least of all me. but so be it.

I haven't touched it yet, but I'm fairly certain it is not a novel, historic or otherwise. I'm pretty sure it's straight history. But I like that stuff.
