Pesach so far has been nice. Friday night we had Seth and Jen over. They're home visiting for a couple weeks from Uzbekistan. Their son, Eitan, has grown a lot, but he's still TEENEY! (comparatively, anyway). We had:
- Cold carrot soup
- Roast beast with mushrooms in wine sauce
- green salad with italian dressing
- Oven Roasted Ratatouille
- Tomato/Basil Salad (way too much garlic)
- Garlic Mashed Potatoes
- Fruit Salad and chocolates for dessert. The chocolates, by the way, were terrible.
Anyway, Jen didn't get to eat much as she was chasing around Eitan, but all was good. The Roast Beast tasted better the next day because it had grown a little cold while waiting to be served. Oh well.
I also had fresh squeezed lemonade. Oh, how I love fresh lemonade! :)
Saturday I can't remember what we had for lunch. Probably not much. Saturday night we went across town for a seder. By across town, I mean about a 40 minute walk each way. The seder was very nice and we had very good company, but it was also quite late. Thankfully, my mother volunteered to stay at home with Julian, so we didn't drag him all over tarnation. Yes, she was invited to attend the seder, but didn't want to go. She spent the night since we didn't get hom until after 3am. Ick.
Hooray for mommies sleeping over. Julian woke up late... and for him late is around 7am. Less than four hours of sleep and neither Seth nor I were especially interested in being parents right then. My mother took him for a couple hours while I slept some more. Hoooooooooooray. Sunday was definitely a lazy, lazy day. I can't remember much of what we ate except that we definitely had some chicken salad at some point. And Seth had reheated roast beast (much better re-warmed) and leftover tomatoes. And we both had leftover fruit salad. That might actually have been all we had. Not sure.
Second seder was at our friends' house (only 4 blocks this time!). We've had at least one seder with them for years. Well, five years for me. Way longer than that for Seth. Apparently, we're like family. It's always us, Ian & Alida, both sets of parents, and Ian's sister. And every year it's a bit different, but enough the same that I feel some comfort in it. I wonder if they'll ever really know how much those seders mean to me. Anyway, I got much tipsier, and we got home much earlier. Both good things, as far as I'm concerned. Monday I was expecting a lunch guest. But it turned out that he had thought he was coming the day before. Apparently, we slept through his knocks. I'm positive I wouldn't have had him Sunday because I knew Saturday's seder would run much later. But such is life. I feel badly that he didn't have a place to eat on Sunday, but there's not much I can do about it.
We had gefilte fish, chicken salad, egg salad, fruit salad, and um, something else. I forget what. Oh yeah, farfel stuffing, even though it didn't stuff anything. It was tasty.
I slept most of the day. Actually, I slept most of the weekend. I have no excuse for still being tired, except that I am. I just could NOT function this weekend. It's no good. I felt like a lousy wife and an even lousier parent because I really wanted NOTHING to do with parenting this weekend. I was just too tired. Maybe that's why I haven't been blessed with little ones of my own. Maybe someone knows I can't handle it. Sigh.
Julian is teething so he was a real terror all weekend. We're dense adults, so it took a while to figure out that his screaming temper tantrums were related to his teeth. Ibuprofen and Orajel took care of it. Thank heavens. I am not exaggerating either. Screaming fits. Temper tantrums. Both at once. It was HORRIFYING. And almost constant. Bleh. Otherwise, he was his normal cute self. You know, whenever he wasn't screaming bloody murder.
After yom tov, I had mikveh duty. It was an extremely busy night, so I got home late and was UNthrilled about getting up for work this morning. ICKAROONIES. But here I am. And a good thing too... I'm swamped. So I should get to it. I hope you are all well.
Incidentally, I went back ~200 messages on my friends' list, and STILL didn't catch up. If I missed any of your fun, PLEASE LET ME KNOW. (provide links as necessary).
