quickies (or not so quickies...I'm not sure which yet)

  • I would like to begin by saying how much I seriously despise static cling. When I was a kid, I thought it was about the niftiest thing ever. But you know what? It sucks.

  • My car needs work. Specifically:
    • someone pulled up to me the other day to tell me my tires were low. Sigh. Not a big deal, but certainly a pain in my rear.

    • I think I need transmission work. At the very least I'm leaking transmission fluid, and I might need a new filter.

    • I need an oil change. I'm actually a couple hundred miles away from needing an oil change, but since I usually go over by a couple of thousand miles, I figure it couldn't hurt to do it early this time.

    • I need a new brake light. The left one is out. Or was it the right?

      • speaking of which, I wonder if Seth remembered to tell the auto shop that he needs a new brake light...
    • I also need a new right side mirror, but that ain't happenin' right now.

  • Seth's car also needs work. He definitely had a coolant leak. But, it turns out, he also needed a couple cadilidic (sp?) converters, a water pump, a timing belt and a CV boot. Something on the order of $4000 worth of work on his car. Fortunately, he has the extended warranty, and about $3000 of that is covered. Oy. He likes to justify having the expensive car by saying that he doesn't have to have it repaired all that often. He might not have me in quantity of repairs, but he's definitely beating me on cost of repairs!

  • I got a new desk. I love my new desk. Except, well, it was faulty, and therefore can't be properly put together and now needs to be returned. I am now unhappy and I no longer love my new desk.

  • the new desk, which is in pieces, is making a big mess in my living room and I am somewhat less than thrilled by this.

  • *achoo*

  • We've had lots of company over recently. Friday, Saturday AND Sunday dinners were all spent with company, which is quite pleasing. But it is also a fair amount of work.

  • Sometimes I wish I had independent wealth. Or any wealth. I mean aside from the wealth of love I have from my friends, family and husband. I'm talking money. Really. No kidding.

  • Every time I open my mouth at work, I seem to be volunteering for, or accepting, more work. Hrm. Maybe I shouldn't come to work anymore...

  • I'm severely underpaid. But such is life.

  • *achooo*

  • There are lots of really good things in my life. I have a great husband, a nice home (albeit small), a college degree, a job, a car (albeit somewhat ugly at the moment), reasonable health (despite the multitude of health problems I collect), fabulous friends, a supportive community, and, most importantly, Kosher Krispy Kreme donuts within driving distance of my house.

  • *sniffle*

  • *yawn*

  • Oh yeah, and I'm severely pissed off at the fact that I do, in fact, have a COLD. I thought I could pretend it was allergies for a while, but it turns out I definitely hae a cold. I'm really unhappy about this. I hate colds. Colds make you feel so miserable, but I feel ridiculous being brought to my knees by something as stupid as a cold. Sigh.

P.S. This is my 200th Entry. hrmf. I'm unimpressed. I'm also unimpressed that it took me 2 years to write 200 entries. I am so lazy I can't even write in my own journal.

(no subject)

So, my previous entry was my 200th entry. I wonder if I should throw a party. I'm thinking probably not. I really don't update very often. I sit around a lot and think about entries I'd LIKE to write...I often contemplate exact verbiage. But somehow, it just rarely happens. Sigh. So basically, I'm a big ball of lazy.

Anyway, weekends. Lots of stuff has been happening on the weekends.

The weekend of Oct. 24th/25th, Collapse )

The following weekend (Oct. 31-Nov.1)Collapse )

But most importantly, there was this past weekend. Fortunately, I remember a fair bit about this past weekend since it hasn't had time to leave my memory yet.

Friday night we had jeannegrrl, Hillel, Jacob, and Squirt over. Okay, well, Squirt was part of a package deal since s/he hasn't been born yet. But that's beside the point. Anyway, we had a lovely shabbos dinner with them. Collapse )

At any rate, a good time was had by all. I hope you weren't too bored reading this. Anyway, I warned you.

It's just occurred to me that I've never written about our anniversary. Whoops. Well, anyway, it was last week. And in case I never get around to posting about it, it was a good day. We had great fun. Yay us.
