Spiders
Yesterday, while driving to the bris, I was stopped at a red light and noticed movement to my left. A quarter-sized spider was crawling on the inside of the door. Panicked, I threw open the door (thank heavens no cars were coming from the other direction) and managed to force it to the street and then slammed my car door shut. I thought for a moment about what had just happened and then just burst into tears.

I need therapy. Badly.

I hope he got squished under my tire. So there.

Current Mood: embarrassed embarrassed

I figure the spider had it coming. What did he think would happen if he got caught hitching a ride? :)

LOL. Yes, he definitely had it coming. Spiders who wish to hitch a ride should sit quietly in the back seat.

I had a similar experience a couple of years ago in my car. I am still surprised I managed to pull over and squish the thing without wrecking the car. I'm glad everything turned out okay.

I'm surprised we don't hear of more accidents when people get freaked out by bugs in their car.

Therapy is good but I always leave feeling that the people in my life need the therapy more than I do. Alas, those who could benefit rarely seek it!

Or you're trying to deal with too much at one time and just need a vacation....

you're so smart. Yeah, there's that. But I really am ridiculously afraid of spiders which is stupid. the logical part of my brain accepts that it's stupid. The rest of me cries like a baby and stands on top of the table praying the spider can't climb up the tablecloth. ;)

I tend to react that way to anything with more than 4 legs... and sometimes more than 2 legs. *sigh*

Rabbi, is there a blessing for large squisy spiders?

Why, yes... "G-d bless and keep the spiders...far away from us!"

Oddly enough, I'm ok with most bugs and spiders. Roaches though, those freak me out.

I hope the spider got squished too...

Re: Rabbi, is there a blessing for large squisy spiders?

I'm okay with most bugs. I'm grossed out by roaches, but not phobic of them. My fear of spiders is completely illogical. In a lot of ways I'm getting better, but in a lot of ways, it's becoming more and more apparent that I need help!

AAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHH

you can come cry with me. thats really scary :(

fortunately, spiders of that size are scared to live in baltimore city :p
estherchaya From: estherchaya Date: May 12th, 2004 09:01 pm (UTC) (Link)
right. Only the mutant softball-sized spiders are willing to brave Baltimore. ;)

I've got a better story for you, but it only works in person, so I'll show you my spider story when we meet.
