the 23rd post meme
from just about everyone on my friends' list:

1.Go into your LJ archives.
2.Find your 23rd post (or closest to).
3.Find the fifth sentence (or closest to).
4.Post the text of the sentence in your blog along with these instructions

"It was blissful."

I, for one, think that's a fabulous sentence.

Current Mood: amused amused

Heh. My 23rd post consists of two sentences. I don't consider 2 sufficiently close to 5 for me to be infected by your meme.

Begone, meme!

Yes, but it also says that it can be the closest to your 23rd post. So there! You can't escape!

The 23rd post is obviously the closest to the 23rd post, since any other post will be at least one post from the 23rd. So that doesn't help.

Besides, I have my meme-resistant underwear on (my head, obviously - that's where the memes get in).

that's what I get for having a math geek for a friend.

Sheesh. Are all statisticians all this literal?

I'd say precise, rather than literal.

No, not all statisticians are so precise.

Almost all of the good ones are, however - because if you're not, you'll be wrong. Statistics is a little too subtly-precise in its concepts to be hand-waved.

Note that apart from the stats PhD, I also have majors in Actuarial Science, Computing and Mathematics. They all require some careful attention to detail in their own way. You can choose which one it comes from.

Good heavens! You're quite the over-achiever! I never realized I had such impressive friends. ;)

Very sweet, but my first response was

"Ha! An over-achiever would have got better grades."

I was just interested in more things that I could fit in a single degree. If I could have afforded it I would have done physics, chemistry and electronics as well, with a bit of astronomy and biology thrown in. But I couldn't afford to support myself through a third degree.

Maybe I can wait until my kids start university and go back then. After all, a parent's job is to be as embarrassing as possible.

Yeah, I'm pretty pleased with that sentence.
