Dry Cleaning Hell
I know that because I used to work in a dry cleaning establishment that I'm extraordinarily picky about having quality dry cleaning. But is it really too much to ask that the dry cleaner return ALL the items that I bring to them when they say they will?

Who do you use as a Dry Cleaner?

We were at Seminary Cleaners (next to the CVS on Georgia), but switched to Kessler's recently because I was tired of stains coming back on my clothes without any acknowledgement that they'd even tried to get the stain out. (I used to work in a DC, so I do know what tools they have available to work on stains)

But Kessler's always seems to manage to leave something out. I usually drop off the cleaning on my way to or from work (it's en route) and often Seth is the one that picks it up. They never seem to return EVERYTHING to him. And maybe that's my fault for not taking the cleaning in more often (every 7-10 days I guess), but er, you'd think they'd want to keep the customers happy. They've been there a long time!

Oh, and I should mention that we're darned good customers. Nearly everything that I wear to work is DC only, and Seth sends his shirts (6 per week) to be laundered, plus, obviously his ties, suits, and other random items. We spend a lot of money on dry cleaning. We are a DC's dream.

We're right there with you in the dry cleaning department--all of Joel's shirts and pants go. I try not to have as much dry-clean only stuff and hand wash some of my things and hang them on our clothesline in the basement. I used to use the cleaner in Kemp Mill, and he was very nice and did an ok job but his prices were off the map. Now I use Aristo Cleaners in Hillendale, off of New Hampshire Avenue, they are really good, but out of your way, probably. The Washingtonian usually does a piece on the best and worst of Washington and cleaners are on that list. I will try to find you the link.
