name change
Despite thinking until the end that I would rename my account "supersweetie" I didn't. I'm not sure why. Anyway, it is now estherchaya. So if any of you are wondering who estherchaya is, it's me, formerly ksnell. I figured it was about time to ditch my maiden name. (though my maiden name being in my LJ name has found me a few lost friends, but still...)

Can I call you "Estie" now?

Re:

ooh! I like it! I never thought of that.
Oh how I wish I had the guts to start going by my Hebrew name. I like it so much more than my English name.

Re:

Karen Cohen is just fine. Mostly, I'll answer to anything as long as I realize you're directing it at me. So Karen is your best bet! ;)

Re:

Ditto.
I'll start callin' you Estie if you start callin' me Yael.
We can start a trend.

Re:

tee hee. I can try, but I'm phenomenally bad at calling people by new names. I have a friend that legally changed her name and I still can't get it right.

Aaaah that explains things

Although we'd recognize that bunny nose anywhere :-D Using your Hebrew name is so much cooler.

My American passport has my name listed as "Shmuel Aharon" ont even the silly goyish Aaron. Of course my assimilated family find this extremely strange. But my non-Jewish friends have a terrible time getting my name right, so I use my internet handle of shmuelisms, which was originally "Shmuel the Kahn Man" (con-man ;-)). Ooops a ramble, sorry.

Re: aspirated or pharyngeal sounds

I'm not precisely clear on what either of those terms mean, but I think it's more of the later. If I was to phonetically spell it out, it would be Ah-HA-ron, with the 'Ha' sounding like the exclamation spelled that way (or the first half of "hard").

fheyd From: fheyd Date: February 17th, 2004 08:56 am (UTC) (Link)
i wanna a new name. i picked fheyd myself for internet use, but aside from that i've never even managed to have a nick name. for some reason no other name sticks, which sucks considering i'm not crazy about my real name (lori). i have thought about making my name in my future legal practice "lorna," that way if anyone commits on it i can say that i named myself after the kick ass character in lethal weapon 3. any thoughts?

oh, btw, my maternal great grandmother's given name was Esther :)

gee, can you tell i'm sick of studying???

Re:

Tee hee! My first thought when I saw that you commented was "gee, I guess she needed a break from studying" because I haven't seen you on LJ in MONTHS!

I love your name. Lori is a beauteous name. I don't care for "Lorna", but that's just me. You want I should find you a Hebrew name? ;)

Neato on your maternal great grandmother... my paternal step-great-grandmother's name was Esther. ;)
