quickies (or not so quickies...I'm not sure which yet)
  • I would like to begin by saying how much I seriously despise static cling. When I was a kid, I thought it was about the niftiest thing ever. But you know what? It sucks.

  • My car needs work. Specifically:
    • someone pulled up to me the other day to tell me my tires were low. Sigh. Not a big deal, but certainly a pain in my rear.

    • I think I need transmission work. At the very least I'm leaking transmission fluid, and I might need a new filter.

    • I need an oil change. I'm actually a couple hundred miles away from needing an oil change, but since I usually go over by a couple of thousand miles, I figure it couldn't hurt to do it early this time.

    • I need a new brake light. The left one is out. Or was it the right?

      • speaking of which, I wonder if Seth remembered to tell the auto shop that he needs a new brake light...
    • I also need a new right side mirror, but that ain't happenin' right now.

  • Seth's car also needs work. He definitely had a coolant leak. But, it turns out, he also needed a couple cadilidic (sp?) converters, a water pump, a timing belt and a CV boot. Something on the order of $4000 worth of work on his car. Fortunately, he has the extended warranty, and about $3000 of that is covered. Oy. He likes to justify having the expensive car by saying that he doesn't have to have it repaired all that often. He might not have me in quantity of repairs, but he's definitely beating me on cost of repairs!

  • I got a new desk. I love my new desk. Except, well, it was faulty, and therefore can't be properly put together and now needs to be returned. I am now unhappy and I no longer love my new desk.

  • the new desk, which is in pieces, is making a big mess in my living room and I am somewhat less than thrilled by this.

  • *achoo*

  • We've had lots of company over recently. Friday, Saturday AND Sunday dinners were all spent with company, which is quite pleasing. But it is also a fair amount of work.

  • Sometimes I wish I had independent wealth. Or any wealth. I mean aside from the wealth of love I have from my friends, family and husband. I'm talking money. Really. No kidding.

  • Every time I open my mouth at work, I seem to be volunteering for, or accepting, more work. Hrm. Maybe I shouldn't come to work anymore...

  • I'm severely underpaid. But such is life.

  • *achooo*

  • There are lots of really good things in my life. I have a great husband, a nice home (albeit small), a college degree, a job, a car (albeit somewhat ugly at the moment), reasonable health (despite the multitude of health problems I collect), fabulous friends, a supportive community, and, most importantly, Kosher Krispy Kreme donuts within driving distance of my house.

  • *sniffle*

  • *yawn*

  • Oh yeah, and I'm severely pissed off at the fact that I do, in fact, have a COLD. I thought I could pretend it was allergies for a while, but it turns out I definitely hae a cold. I'm really unhappy about this. I hate colds. Colds make you feel so miserable, but I feel ridiculous being brought to my knees by something as stupid as a cold. Sigh.

P.S. This is my 200th Entry. hrmf. I'm unimpressed. I'm also unimpressed that it took me 2 years to write 200 entries. I am so lazy I can't even write in my own journal.

Current Mood: sick sick

Catalytic converters, plural? Ouch. (Think "big chunk of expensive platinum", often not covered or only partly covered by warranty).

apparently, the told him "two of your catalytic converters are blown." This implies to me that there are more than two even. I'm sort of wary of that.

Apparently, on the Pasat, each one is about $1400. I am unthrilled. I am, however, thrilled that they are covered under the extended warranty and that they blew while still under warranty.

And I'm very glad that you knew how to spell catalytic. It makes much more sense spelled that way than my way. :)

Sounds like you're doing fine to me...as opposed to myself for whom writing in this darn thing is almost as automatic as breathing... I worry that people get bored. I worry that I need to get a life... Then I remember I have one and if I didn't have a place to process, I'd implode...heh.

Hope things work out with your cars... As for being underpaid, I hear you...

Well, considering that I never figured I'd write at all...which is to say, I didn't get the journal to write entries, but rather to be able to comment in other people's journals, I'm not doing so badly. I wish I were more prolific in general, but mostly, I'm self-conscious about my writing. I'm not a good writer in this sense. I write for a living, but it's an entirely different ball of wax.

Thanks for your well-wishes to our cars. Seth's car should be fixed tomorrow. As for mine...well, I have a feeling it's never going to be perfect, but that's okay. I'll live.

It's probably better that I stay underpaid. That way, when we have kids, if I decide not to go right back to work, it'll be easier to live without my salary. We shall see.

Re: Yay!

huh?

Incidentally, I've heard from somewhat reliable sources that unless you've got two mufflers (which I don't think you do), then you don't have two catalytic converters. So, uh, maybe you wanna double check that, huh?
