Convergence
Hey, someday when I happen to have more sleep and more time on my hands, remind me to tell you how the events of this week all managed to converge in such a way that I happened to end up with my grandfather staying with us for a week (and his little dog, too!), my mother-in-law's damn cat in my house, and 13 people for dinner tonight.

Really.  It's quite a funny (and aggravating) story.  Did I mention I have four kids?  And that I'm allergic to dogs?  And cats?  And that we already have 2 cats of our own?

I think my house is beginning to look a bit like a clown car.

I look forward to hearing all about it. You don't mind if we bring some friends from out of town, do you. :-)

Just kidding!!!!!

the more the merrier; they'll have to stand, though, or sit in exersaucers, because I'm pretty sure we'll be out of chairs. :)

Oh, and P.S. I'll gladly tell you all about it, but not at dinner tonight, because the events that led to it were things that might be best not discussed in front of my mother as they might embarrass her. She and my grandfather will be there at dinner tonight.

You poor thing! If I lived closer to you, I would be at your house lickety-split to help you out.

slacker. If you REALLY loved me, you'd be here despite the distance.

Hey! We love you! And we're not coming anywhere near your house! Even under threat of death.

Of us, that is. Threatening us with the death of some guests will only open negotiations. :)

This is all a test. Breathe deep.
I think the lesson is to realize how quiet your house really is after everyone leaves!!
i hope you have some help cooking for tonight. shabbat shalom!

No help cooking for tonight, but I'm making only simple dishes and half my cooking is already done; I'll do the rest after I'm home from work. The trick is fitting it all in with getting the babies fed and in bed.

And yes, the house will be blessedly calm and quiet when everyone is all gone.

(and his little dog, too!)

Well, at least your house came pre-populated with munchkins! :)

Try to enjoy the chaos. And, as previously noted, the quiet after everyone goes.

I'd ask who plays the wicked witch in this scenario, but I'm afraid you'll tell me. :)

I did a double take when I read this comment, because I thought you were serious. I suppose it's 5 kids, if you count the husband...

My house is totally clean, thankyouverymuch. Except my kitchen, but that's because I've been cooking in it.

And my babies are asleep LONG before shabbos comes in! They were asleep at 6 o'clock tonight.

I am in awe of you. IAf you don't already have a superwoman icon you need one.

I"m lucky if my house has a distinct path walk in on shabbos. That's not true my apartment used to be in that state of disaray the house is better, but not erev shabbos.

Train of thought....

Okay, so first I see your avatar, and it makes me chuckle inside.
Then I read the first paragraph of the post and I'm thinking "holy cow!!"
Then I read the next paragraph and I'm thinking "That's 'funny?' she must really be Super-woman."
And then.... I got to the last line, and I actually giggled out loud. I heard myself.

Sheesh! How in the world do you do it all????
