Does it annoy anyone else out there that there's no "cents" symbol on a keyboard? I mean, sure, you can always write some fraction of $'s, but it looks so stupid to say $.02 instead of two cents. I just want a cents symbol, dammit!!

Actually, that pisses me off as well.

I really thought I was the only one. Whew.

Option-4: ¢

Of course, this might only work on a Mac.

Re:

it works on a mac, not a pc. There's some combination of short cut keys you can use on a PC, but that's not the point. I WANT THE BUTTON.

Plus, on the PC, I'm not certain, but I think those short-cut combinations may only work within Microsoft applications (e.g. Word).

I'd get a Mac, but my husband is afraid of Macs. This is the only PC I've ever owned.

You're not the only one. And the Microsoft special keystrokes aren't the answer either, because Microsoft has not yet taken over every single computer on the planet (despite their best efforts :-) ).

Re:

sigh.

I'm not asking much, am I? It could even be a function key... Function-shift-4 or something. Would that kill anyone? I mean, I see why it's not on MY keyboard (I have a laptop)...but there's no reason it couldn't be on a full sized keyboard.

Grr.

I can't believe I'm this upset about something this stupid. I blame Percocet.

Alternately...

You could use the ASCII code ALT-155 and get - ¢

That works on all MS systems, all apps, and since it's an ASCII code, all OS's (including Mac)...

Re: Alternately...

I can't seem to get that to work... it just keeps beeping at me.

Now I feel like a failure.

Re: Alternately...

Hold the alt key down
Using the keypad (with numlock on), press 1 5 5
Let the alt key up
¢

Yay.

Re: Alternately...

Nope. Not working for me. Maybe it's because my keypad is a function on my keyboard (being that it's a laptop) and coexists with the letters?

Re: Alternately...

Perhaps. Hm. Try plugging in a "real keyboard" and see what happens.

Oh, wait, not everyone is like me and has 3-4 extra laying around at all times, right?

Well, if you have a regular keyboard, try plugging it in and seeing if it works for you.

Re: Alternately...

eh. I'll just try it on Seth's computer at some point and see if it works. Since I did find one way to do it, I'm not too stressed about it. Thanks!
