challah revisited
I have made 2 large challahs, 8 mini braided challahs, and 2 mini round challahs. I threw the rest of the dough in the freezer because I'm tired. The last 5 mini challahs are baking as we speak and will be done in half an hour. I will get to bed at 2am, having not dealt with boiling the potatoes or cabbage. I will have few side dishes tomorrow. I don't care because my challah is pretty. Bea's challahs came out beautifully and some of mine look pretty decent too, so there. Everyone must ooh and aah at my challah at dinner b/c there ain't gonna be much more. ;)

We are having corned beef and cabbage, mashed potatoes, arugula salad, challah, and dessert (thanks Lauren!). I might get around to broiling the portabello mushrooms I've got. No soup. No fish. I don't care.

Ooh! Aah! Look at the gorgeous challahs!
*grin*

I find it also works to have a couple of things to put on bread at the start of the meal (hummus, black bean spread, herbs and olive oil, etc) as a sort of appetizer course with almost no energy expended.

I took pictures. Seriously. I'll post them.

I have hummus at home. Wonder if I have anything else interesting...

The black bean stuff I make is by pureeing canned black beans (drained) with salsa. One blender/food processor, less than 5 minutes (minus cleanup, maybe).

I was skeptical, as I have issues with food textures sometimes, but it was delish. Thanks for the suggestion. The Felds enjoyed it as well.

Yay! I'm glad it worked out. It's weird, actually, when I think of it, that that 'recipe' has been liked by pretty much everyone I've tried it out on, and it's pretty healthful, too.
