cute new Julian things
Warning, "Thing the third" is about diapers. Don't read it if you don't want to read about diapers.

Thing the first: If you say "one," Julian will now respond with "two?" Once or twice, he's even said "tree" (three).

Thing the second: We are now able to negotiate good behaviour from him. If he's whiny and cranky and irritable and generally frustrating, if I say, "Is it naptime?" he will say "no!" "Okay," I say, "then I need you to calm down a little." And then he does! How cute!

Thing the third: Not so much a cute thing, but a definite milestone... this morning he put his hand on his little tushie and said "Poo!" I was a little skeptical since I had just changed his diaper, but I asked, "Do you have a poopy diaper?" "No!!!" he cried, and ran away. I picked him up (I am bigger than him, after all) and he did, indeed have a poopy diaper!! This is the first time he's ever done that!

Ahem.

You may now return to your regularly scheduled programming.

Kudos to him on all three of his milestones!

It's pretty funny that he runs away from you when he needs changing.

Wow! The running away is not unusual with boys. I don't know why.

The naptime thing will be useful for a couple of years; Lauren is now past naptime (except on rare occasions - she's almost 4 now), but it does turn into "Oh, sounds like you need early bedtime today." "No! I'm not tired!" (hah!) "Then you're going to have to settle down a bit if you want to stay up."

(We have early and late bedtimes half an hour apart...late is more typical, though early is "official" bedtime.)
