In what way does aspirin "sux"?
estherchaya From: estherchaya Date: January 26th, 2005 06:45 pm (UTC) (Link)
Aspirin does not make my pain go away. Therefore, it is yucky.

I find it works just great in combination with Acetomin. and Caffeine (i.e., Excedrin or equiv.).

Yeah. That's the joy of excedrin.

Regrettably, Excedrin hasn't worked for me in years.

i dont know what excedrin is actually supposed to do......it doesn't do anything for me.

but mmmmm codeine....

Not if you're having a heart attack, it doesn't.

I'm not having a heart attack. I'm having a migraine with a side order of cramps.

You didn't state originally what you were using it for. Aspirin might knock out a headache at the beginning. It certianly won't address cramps or a full blown migraine.

Codeine plus an NSAID may be the best answer.

Yeah, I actually almost never get headaches. Just migraines. I'm lucky, I guess.

Er...

Right. Anyway. Codeine would help right now. Heck, even Aleve would help a little. But, alas, I'm an idiot and I have no drugs here. I went downstairs to the coffee shop (they usually have single-dose packages of aleve for sale for about $9 each), but they only had aspirin. In desperation, hoping it would take the edge off, I bought some aspirin.

Suffice it to say, it has done nothing. Oh well.

At your grandfather's age, it is.

well when he was telling me this, my grandmother got on the phone and said (in her loud ny accent)

"WAHT ABOUT ME? IF I TOOK IT, I'D BLEED TO DEATH! IS THAT WHAT YOU WANT???"

I think Tylenol sux. I get better results from jellybeans.
estherchaya From: estherchaya Date: January 27th, 2005 03:26 am (UTC) (Link)
tylenol is only useful when combined with codeine.
ichur72 From: ichur72 Date: January 27th, 2005 04:13 am (UTC) (Link)
Which is why one should just head for the codeine and skip the Tylenol.
estherchaya From: estherchaya Date: January 27th, 2005 12:12 pm (UTC) (Link)
Just checked with Seth. Because codeine and tylenol have different mechanisms of action, the two have a synergistic effect and taken together, it is stronger than the two drugs taken separately. According to him, the only reason to take codeine separately is if you're worried about overdosing on Tylenol.

Hmm. I did not know that.
