Dammit. I wrote a nice long entry about my dad's visit, but it took me a couple hours to write it (piecemeal), so LJ rejected it because it was "in the past" according to the time. And I tried to go back and change the time and it ATE MY ENTRY.

And no, using an LJ client is not the answer, so please don't suggest it. I can't use an LJ client on my work computer. And yes, I could have typed it into Word and copied it, except I didn't expect it to be such a long entry. I was expecting "dad came for dinner last night. Got to meet Julian and see the house. The visit was nice and I'm glad I got to see him" and that's about it. So there.

Anyway, my dad came for dinner last night. He got to meet the kid. He got to see the house. He had some good suggestions on how to make the kitchen tolerable (if not more functional) for less than $40K. A lot less. And we talked. And then he left. But it was a very nice visit.

So that's all you get! Because sometimes LJ is mean!

Re: Save early and often!

I normally do the same thing. Honestly, I wasn't looking for sage advice on how to avoid it in the future. I was just ticked off. I'm well aware of how to avoid the problem. I just don't always think to do it.

Anyway, it actually wasn't so long, it just took a long time for me to be eloquent. It effectively conveyed the same message as "he came, met the kid, had a good time, glad to have seen him."

Re: Save early and often!

As a wise man once said, "Brevity is the soul of wit"

So does that mean long rambling posts are witless?

Re: Save early and often!

Perhaps. :)

I think it usually means that long, rambling stories aren't funny because you lose your audience.
