argh
If it were the week of December 20-24, I'd be cool with it. But first of all, I think that if you're in a cubicle environment, it's incredibly RUDE to listen to music without headphones. For me, it is simply too hard to work with that sort of distraction. And second of all, I may be the only non-Christmas celebrator in this office, but dammit, at least play GOOD xmas music! This is crap!

Update: The worst part is that I'm finding myself SINGING ALONG WITH THIS CRAP.

Current Mood: annoyed annoyed and very tired

I am the prick in the next cubical playing "the night Santa Went Crazy" and "I am Santa Clauz". Most of my co-workers have cleared out and left me the hell alone. Pleah.

You are bored, aren't you?

You've admitted to being the prick in the cubicle next to Karen and the asshat driving next to me on I-66. I know you're neither of those, so you must not have enough to do today.

Re: You are bored, aren't you?

Actually, I have alot of small things to do today, but I have to wait on alot of answers and that just means I am sitting here. I can't get to invioled with something because I am waiting for actual work to come my way, but yes, I am very bored at this particular moment. I did do a search for "asshat" on google and had a delightful conversation from the DSPG (computer/network perople here at Trowe) about the "correct use" of company internet resources.

Of course I can still telnet into my mail and chat with pron stars, but looking for an asshat on the internet is a no-no. go figure.

They are silly in the first place. They watch everything now, AIM,MSN, Email, web usage, FTP traffic, but they don't monitor Telnet. I guess they thing "who in their right mind would use Telnet in this day and age"?
Well me! I have never been in my right mind!!! Woohoo! Ferrets for
Everyone! Wait, I'll be right back.

Re: You are bored, aren't you?

Re: You are bored, aren't you?

I don't normally mind christmas music. But I hate BAD christmas music. And on top of that, no matter what kind of music it is, it is just plain WRONG to play it without headphones in an office with CUBICLES. So there.
From: gittygiggles Date: December 3rd, 2004 06:43 am (UTC) (Link)
oh i agree! i dont mind it either. but there gets a point when you've heard the same 30 songs over and over again for 4-12 hours strait where you start to crack....

and i agree...it is rude to play music w/o headphones. but aparently people aren't beign tought etiquate anymore

Joel used to work in a cubicle environment where the young lady next to him wore short shorts and flip flops (casual workplace but he doubts they meant that casual) listened to bad rock music without headphones, and used to stand up and scream at her friend who had the cube on the other side of Joel. She lived, although I am not sure how.

At Xmas she was equally non professional choosing to don a santa hat for most of the month of December.

"Office Space" anyone?

Just as a funny asside, we just got an email from Corp Human Resources that states that there shoud be "no religious christmas decoration". My only question is what christmas decoration is not a religious one?
estherchaya From: estherchaya Date: December 3rd, 2004 06:51 am (UTC) (Link)
nah, I'm cool with that. I don't have a problem with a santa hat or mistletoe or any of that. But if someone has a nativity scene on their desk, I find that a little more difficult to deal with.
From: gittygiggles Date: December 3rd, 2004 06:57 am (UTC) (Link)
obviously, you haven't been saved.
gwiii From: gwiii Date: December 3rd, 2004 08:23 am (UTC) (Link)
But isn't christmas a christian holiday? I could see if the notice was no religious holiday decorations.

Oh well..
estherchaya From: estherchaya Date: December 3rd, 2004 08:29 am (UTC) (Link)
Christmas is, in its ideal and intended state, a Christian religious holiday. But santa claus, reindeer, xmas trees, mistletoe, elves, sleighs, gingerbread houses, etc. are not Christian. A large number of Americans view Christmas as a solely secular holiday (some acknowledge that it admittedly has Christian roots, but stand by their opinion that Christmas today is entirely secular).

a santa hat? that's really dumb.

now reindeer antlers....THAT i can u nderstand!

I met this girl once and I totally understood why Joel could not stand her. The way she acted and dressed made it seem like she had no respect for the job or the work. I believe in office casual but people should look nice, should shower and wear non-torn clothing. I think the santa hat was just the straw that broke santa's sleigh. Or something like that.
From: gittygiggles Date: December 3rd, 2004 09:31 am (UTC) (Link)
what about reindeer ears?

i need a pair of those.

or those boinky glitter ear things. i LOVE those!
estherchaya From: estherchaya Date: December 3rd, 2004 06:51 am (UTC) (Link)
I'm totally cool with donning a santa hat for all of december. Hell, for all I care, wear it all year round. But keep the BAD xmas music out of my ears!!!!
ichur72 From: ichur72 Date: December 3rd, 2004 07:13 am (UTC) (Link)
You're making me very glad I work from home.

(Down with bad xmas carols! Especially those barking-dog and meowing-cat ones!)

Ugh. You have my sympathy; I've been there. Well, the annoying-music-without-headphones part; I don't think I've been attacked with bad Christmas music in the workplace -- only in almost every public place I dare to enter after mid-November.
estherchaya From: estherchaya Date: December 3rd, 2004 07:56 am (UTC) (Link)
I don't really care about it in public places like malls and retail stores. They do it because it generates money. Fine. BUT IN AN OFFICE WITH CUBICLES IT'S RUDE. It would be rude if it were chanukah music. It would be rude if it were beethoven (though admittedly, I'd probably complain less). It'd be rude if it were KISS. It's just plain RUDE!
