Sur La Table. Just do a google search on "pomegranate syrup". There's also a recipe to make it here.

actually, now I feel stupid. It looks like grenadine and pomegranate syrup are the same thing. I know where to get grenadine!

Thanks for the recipe. I might try making it.

It's another recipe from Kosher by Design for "Pomegranate Chicken". I has chicken, pomegranate juice, pomegranate syrup, garlic cloves, chopped fresh mint, freshly ground black pepper (1/8 cup!!), and margarine. The picture looks like it has this beautiful, rich, dark caramel color. I'm very excited about it. I'm hoping to do it for 1st night dinner.

Re: Round Trips

Dulles as in near the airport? Maybe 45 minutes, tops.

Oh, and the Krispy Kreme that just opened in Dupont Circle (DC's first KK ever!) is negotiating to have kosher oversight. They will be a KOSHER Krispy Kreme.

As for the one in Hunt Valley...isn't it in Owings Mills? Or are OM and HV so close that it could be either?

Re: Round Trips

I know there's a kosher KK in Baltimore ... my husband has an amusing story about a date he went on there. But anyway, I seem to remember hearing several months ago that the KK corporation (I feel like I should spell that with a "K") had made the decision that all of their new outlets would be kosher. So you might want to check on the locations nearest you ...

Re: Round Trips

It's in Owings Mills, actually, but close enough.

And not all their new stores are kosher. It's a franchise, and kosher supervision is up to the individual franchise owner. All krispy kremes in CANADA are kosher from here on out. Maybe that's what you'd heard.

All the mixes that KK uses in its franchise stores are certified kosher, so they aren't using anything that isn't kosher in the stores. So it's a simple step to get kosher supervision, but not everyone is interested in taking that step. Also, it probably wouldn't be as economically intelligent in, say, Kansas as it is in, say Boston. There's not going to be as much gain in profit for a Kansas store.

Re: Round Trips

Hmmm, maybe it was the Canada thing I heard ... and yes, it does seem to vary from place to place. Luckily, all of the franchises in Atlanta are under the AKC.

Massachusetts' first KK franchise opened up right before I left -- in Malden. (It too was under supervision.) I heard on the radio that the traffic in the neighborhood was backed up for quite a while b/c they were giving away free doughnuts.

ooh look! A nit for me to pick...

Um, you never said you wanted to go get it, you just asked where had it.

I could've been an even bigger smartass and said "Squeeze a pomegranate tree" (squeeze a fruit, get juice. squeeze a tree, get syrup...) But I didn't.

I'm pretty sure the need for actual possession was implied.
