You have GOT to be kidding me
I mean, I know I joked about it happening, but sheesh...

So yeah. Yesterday while I was home sick I decided to take care of a much-needed errand. I bought a new phone. My fifth fight with Verizon Wireless happened IN the store. And I very nearly walked out and went to a Sprint store. Except I hate Sprint. I don't hate Sprint, I hate their coverage. So I worked it out with Verizon that the phone that should have cost me next to nothing, but they were GOING to charge me $200 for, they only charged me $160 (with a $50 mail-in-rebate) for. Bastardos.

So I bought a new phone.

And guess what I found today? That's right. You guessed it. My old stinking phone. In my computer bag! Where I'd looked a couple dozen times. Dammit! I needed a new phone anyway, but could have done better on the price if I'd been able to wait 7 more days for a new phone. Jerks!

Anyway, all's well that ends well. I've got the new phone I needed. I've got the old phone which, once charged again, will reveal all the numbers I've been missing for the past couple of weeks. Whew.

Current Mood: indescribable

If it wasn't for the hassle, couldn't you return the phone unused and have them reactivate your old phone?

I doubt it.
Verizon is not high on my list of companies in whose customer service skills I have any faith whatsoever right now. Sigh.

The few times I've dealt with them (I'm on Verizon, nee Airtouch) they've been easy to work with, but your office may differ from mine.

yeah, used to be that I had no problems with them. But the last two weeks dealing with them have been absolutely disappointing. If it hadn't been for the hassle, I would have walked out and taken my business elsewhere. But my plan is tied to my husband's plan and I needed a phone immediately for a road trip I'm taking Sunday, and it just wasn't worth the extra time and energy I was going to spend on it to walk away.

Such is life. I can call and find out if I can return it, but the likely answer is that it's probably a lot more of a hassle than it's worth.
